Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has arrived in New Delhi to attend the 18th BRICS Summit. It is the first visit by an Iranian president to India in eight years and Pezeshkian’s first visit to the country since taking office. He is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.
Pezeshkian’s visit comes as Iran remains embroiled in its ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel. It also assumes significance amid differences between Iran and the UAE over the diplomatic language of the BRICS Delhi Declaration, with the two countries yet to reach a common position.
