Footage released by the government forces shows soldiers advancing uphill and firing, while a tank launches shells and military vehicles move through the area.
Government forces claim they have reached the Bir Al Maraziq area and cut Houthi supply lines east of Al Hazm after three days of fighting.
The Houthis, however, claim their forces broke through government positions and killed and captured several troops.
Fighting has also spread across other parts of Yemen, including Taiz, Al Hudaydah and Al Bayda, as government forces expand operations against the Houthis.
