Democrat Abdul El-Sayed had a cheeky message for JD Vance after winning Michigan’s US Senate race: ‘JD, habibi, there is this delicious irony in the fact that you’re constitutionally obligated to swear me in in January.’ After facing attacks from both Donald Trump and Vance during the campaign, El-Sayed turned the tables with a pointed reminder that the Vice President will have to administer his oath as a newly elected senator. El-Sayed defeated Republican Mike Rogers, becoming the first Muslim elected to the US Senate.
