A fast-moving wildfire in British Columbia has triggered evacuations as the Bald Range wildfire continues to spread rapidly. Canada has declared a state of emergency in the province, with more than 20,000 people forced to evacuate as emergency responders work to move residents to safety.
The blaze has disrupted power supplies and triggered a boil water notice in Summerland, while thick smoke has covered parts of British Columbia’s skies. Strong winds have fuelled the fire’s rapid growth, with the blaze covering more than 100 square kilometres.
