Russian drones struck Ukraine’s southern city of Zaporizhzhia overnight on September 21, injuring five people and damaging two nine-storey apartment buildings, a university and a shopping centre, Ukrainian officials said. Fires covered about 110 square metres at the damaged residential buildings and 1,300 square metres at a shopping centre, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service. Ukraine’s Air Force said 172 Russian drones were launched during the attack, including Shahed drones, with 148 drones shot down or suppressed. The strike followed a large Ukrainian drone attack on Russia, where Moscow’s Defence Ministry said its air defences had downed 244 Ukrainian drones overnight.
