Legendary country music star Dolly Parton, who transcended the genre to become a cultural icon for generations of fans, has died at the age of 80. Her family announced the news on Tuesday in a post on Parton’s Instagram account.
The 11-time Grammy winner revolutionized country music alongside fellow pioneers Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette. She went on to become a legendary performer, songwriter, businesswoman and philanthropist.
She was perhaps best known for her unique look, which consisted of bright, big blonde hair and a tiny waist.
“I may look fake, but I’m real where it counts,” Parton said.
