Emergency crews worked on Saturday to clear mud and debris from roads in Ierapetra on the Greek island of Crete after severe storms triggered flash flooding across the region. Footage showed floodwaters rushing through damaged roads as heavy machinery, police and fire crews responded to the aftermath. The hardest-hit areas included Ferma and Makrys Gialos in southeastern Crete. Firefighters rescued 23 people from homes and vehicles and received dozens of calls to pump water from flooded properties following the overnight storms.
