Why do young Moroccans insist on returning to Ceuta? | DW News

Listen to this article

On Tuesday, the Spanish king Felipe VI is arriving in the North African enclave of Ceuta. It is the first visit by a Spanish monarch in the disputed city in around 20 years. Ceuta has been in a state of emergency since a mass border crossing two months ago. Many migrants are living rough on the beaches and streets, others returned to Morocco hungry and injured. Still, tens of thousands are waiting for their next chance to cross the border. DW reporters Rim Najmi and Jan-Philipp Scholz talked to young Moroccans on both sides of the border.
