India’s food safety regulator FSSAI has taken action against Nestlé India Limited over alleged non-compliance involving three infant nutrition products.
The regulator raised concerns over certain promotional claims associated with the products. A laboratory analysis of a sample of a Nestle India follow-up formula found it to be sub-standard for Biotin content. The sample was subsequently sent for re-analysis, with the referral laboratory also finding it non-conforming with the Biotin requirement prescribed under the 2020 regulations.
The action puts the spotlight on compliance and nutritional standards governing infant nutrition products in India.
