A heartbreaking scene was captured from the air in a Western Australian estuary, where a mother dolphin was seen carrying her dead calf.
According to Geographe Marine Research, the dolphin, named Fraggle, was carrying her calf, which had been born just two weeks earlier.
The research group said mother dolphins are known to carry their dead calves as part of a mourning process that can last for several days. Eventually, the mother must let go so she can feed and survive.
