Pope Leo Warns A.I Could Make Human Relationships ‘Impersonal’, Urges Human Judgement | N18G
Pope Leo has warned that the growing use of artificial intelligence could make human relationships increasingly impersonal and encourage people to hand important decisions over to algorithms. While acknowledging the opportunities created by AI and digital technology, Leo stressed that decisions involving human lives, conscience and responsibility should remain subject to human judgement.

The Pope has repeatedly called for safeguards around artificial intelligence. His first encyclical, published in May, also warned against fully delegating sensitive decisions affecting people’s lives to automated systems. His remarks come ahead of a meeting hosted by Britain’s King Charles with executives from major AI companies including Nvidia, Google DeepMind, OpenAI and Anthropic.
