Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal pitched India’s economies of scale and hard-working workforce to Dutch business leaders at the India-Netherlands Business Forum in The Hague.
“Indians always work hard. Nobody in India will tell you it’s 5 o’clock. No Indian will ever remind you that it’s the weekend,” Goyal said, highlighting the country’s young, skilled, and aspirational population willing to put in long hours.
He urged Dutch companies to invest, co-manufacture, and co-innovate in India, citing opportunities in semiconductors, green energy, manufacturing, logistics, and more under the India-EU FTA framework. The remarks have sparked debate on work culture and work-life balance.
