Alzheimer’s disease makes up the majority of dementia cases, and it remains a primary focus of funding and research. As documented in Robert Kolker’s book, “The Vanishing Family,” research does not prioritize rare brain diseases.
“A lot of the investment is built around big swings, like things that are going to lead to big cures because that’s going to get the biggest profits,” Kolker told Horizons host William Brangham.
