More than 1,000 people marched through Bologna on Friday in a pro-Palestine demonstration marking one year since activist Lince suffered permanent loss of sight in one eye after being struck by a tear-gas canister during a Gaza protest. The circumstances and any responsibility for the 2025 injury remain under judicial investigation. Demonstrators marched with Palestinian flags and banners opposing what they described as state violence, while also protesting an Italian bill adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism. The legislation was debated in Italy’s lower house on Oct. 2 after passing the Senate in March. The Bologna march was escorted by police and ended without reported incidents.
