Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has arrived in New York to join Tehran’s delegation for the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Following his arrival, Araghchi held a phone call with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, with discussions focusing on the UNGA agenda and efforts to promote international peace and security.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is also scheduled to attend the UN General Assembly and address world leaders. The visit comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States. Washington has approved visas for Iran’s core UNGA delegation, including Pezeshkian and Araghchi, while imposing travel and purchasing restrictions.
