Putin had singled out Seagal among the audience on Thursday, describing him as a “great friend of Russia” and “the finest ambassador for peace.” Seagal, who was granted Russian citizenship in 2016 and serves as a special representative of Russia’s Foreign Ministry for Russian-American humanitarian relations, was attending the forum in Russia’s Far East. The annual event, held from Sept. 1-4, brings together officials, business leaders and experts from Russia and abroad to discuss investment, technology, infrastructure and international cooperation.
