A bid by the government to backdate new rules limiting political donations to March this year has been condemned as “hypocritical” by the deputy leader of Reform. Richard Tice has insisted that the two donations from crypto-billionaires Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne, who gave Reform £36m each last week, had come with no strings attached. A plan to cap donations from expats at £100,000 is to be debated later today by the House of Lords.
