A large plume of smoke and fire was seen near an Aramco facility in Riyadh, according to a witness cited by Reuters. Saudi authorities had not immediately confirmed the incident, while Aramco had not responded to a request for comment.
The fire comes amid escalating hostilities between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis, who have recently stepped up attacks targeting Saudi cities and energy infrastructure.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the fire. However, last week, the Houthis said they had targeted Aramco facilities in Yanbu with missiles and drones.
