American activist and scholar Angela Davis has renewed her call for global liberation, connecting struggles over racism, colonialism, feminism and state violence with movements around the world.
Speaking at the UNAM in Mexico during the FILUNI 2026 literary and academic festival, Davis highlighted the importance of Latin American women and referenced figures including Colombian politician Francia Márquez and Brazilian activist Marielle Franco.
Davis also expressed solidarity with Palestinians, saying Palestine represents people around the world and the ability to imagine victory and continue resisting under extremely difficult circumstances. She concluded the event with a pro-Palestine statement and the raising of a Palestinian flag.
Her appearance in Mexico focused on abolitionist feminism, anti-racism and opposition to capitalism and colonialism. Davis argued that activism must generate hope at a time of growing anti-feminist and authoritarian politics.
