The Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die on the final day of the Monsoon Session 2026, bringing the session to a close on Thursday.
The Centre’s attempt to facilitate a discussion on the students’ agitation in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday failed after the Opposition turned down Home Minister Amit Shah’s proposal for a two-day debate on the NEET paper leaks and other related issues, followed by his response.
The Monsoon Session, which began on July 20, has been marked by repeated disruptions in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
The Opposition’s protests initially focused on the NEET paper leak and alleged theft of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The issue later expanded to include demands for a discussion on police action against students protesting over the NEET paper leak.
The Opposition has also sought the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament, along with statements from both leaders on the matter.
