🥇 Meet India’s golden girl Pranavi Urs — the 23-year-old golfer who has scripted history at the Asian Games.
Pranavi Urs became the first Indian woman to win an individual golf gold medal at the Asian Games, ending India’s 24-year wait for an individual golf gold. The last Indian to win an individual Asian Games golf gold was Shiv Kapur in 2002.
But Pranavi’s road to gold was anything but straightforward.
Entering the final round with a three-shot lead, the 23-year-old golfer suffered a devastating triple bogey on the third hole, wiping out her advantage and putting the title in serious doubt. Instead of allowing the setback to derail her, Pranavi responded with three crucial birdies — on the 6th, 10th and 13th holes — to reclaim the lead and eventually finish at 15-under 265, one stroke clear of her closest challengers.
Pranavi also helped India win a women’s team silver medal, alongside Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar. India finished second behind China in the team event.
