US President Donald Trump has revived his claims that the investigation into alleged links between his 2016 presidential campaign and Russia was a “hoax”, saying Russian President Vladimir Putin understood the situation.
Speaking at a rally in Ohio, Trump called the probe a “con job” and accused his political opponents of trying to damage his presidency. He also revisited the controversy surrounding his 2019 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Mueller investigation found no evidence that the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with Russia in its election interference.
