Helicopters are being used to reach flood-hit areas and evacuate affected residents to safer locations, while rescue personnel are being deployed to areas that remain difficult to access.
At rescue sites, lists containing the names of missing people have been displayed. Families have been seen breaking down as they search the lists for the names of relatives and loved ones who remain unaccounted for.
Despite the devastation, many families continue to hold on to hope that their loved ones may still be found as search and rescue operations gather pace.
