Security barriers and temporary fencing surround the US Capitol in Washington, DC, a day before the 2026 midterm elections. With voters set to decide control of Congress, all eyes are on the results, which will begin coming in after polling stations close on November 3.
Polls begin closing at 6:00 PM EST on November 3 (4:30 AM IST on November 4), with initial results expected shortly afterwards. Counts will continue through election night, while closely contested races may take longer to call.
