But whilst robots are able to beat the human record, they seem to find stopping after the race significantly more difficult, often crashing into padded barriers and sometimes catching fire throughout the games.
The second World Humanoid Robot Games brought together more than 2000 robots for 51 sporting and scenario-based events.
