King Harald V of Norway has died at the age of 89 after he was taken to Oslo’s national hospital last week with a rare blood condition.

Flags around the country will be lowered to half mast in tribute while Norway’s prime minister said the entire nation was in mourning.

King Charles described Harald as his dear cousin who had served with “unwavering dedication”.

Crown Prince Haakon will take over as Norway’s new monarch.
