They lived on a cruise. Now they’re stuck in Cambodia.

Listen to this article

On Tuesday, The Villa Vie Odyssey suspended operations in Cambodia and told its 203 residents to get off the ship.

Villa Vie blames the Iran war for pushing fuel costs from about $1,800 to as much as $8,000 per cabin each month.

Its founder says the plan is to file for Chapter 11, and nobody has said yet what happens to the money residents paid.

Was Villa Vie taken down by the war, or was living at sea never going to work?
