The Houthis of Yemen continue to strike Saudi Arabia. Over the weekend, the Houthis shot down a Saudi Military helicopter killing both the pilots. Meanwhile, a Houthi missile struck a residential area in Saudi Arabia near the Yemen border. Amid the rise in hostilities, Egypt has pledged to ‘defend’ Saudi Arabia after Pakistan and Turkey fail to stop the incoming Houthi attacks. Despite the Mecca Mutual Defence Agreement, Saudi Arabia has not gained much from Pakistan and Turkey. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has vowed to defend Saudi Arabia from future attacks. However, a possible Egyptian military deployment requires the Parliament’s approval. Egypt’s parliament will announce its decision this week. Egypt and Saudi Arabia have history ties and Cairo has been directly affected due to the Saudi-Houthi war. Hem Kaur Saroya tells you more on Vantage on Firstpost.
