External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has explained why India’s relationship with the United States differs from Washington’s formal alliances with other countries. Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum, he described India-US ties as a strategic partnership built on shared interests and said that foundation had not fundamentally changed.
On tariffs, Jaishankar said the US was seeking to reindustrialise and reset access to its economy, adding that India was well advanced in negotiations with Washington.
