India criticised Pakistan at the United Nations over its remarks on the rule of law, saying Islamabad was in no position to lecture others when ‘the Army is the rule, and the Army is the law’ in the country.
India exercised its Right of Reply during a discussion in the UN General Assembly’s Sixth Committee on ‘Rule of Law at National and International Levels’, after Pakistan made remarks on the subject.
Counsellor at India’s Permanent Mission to the UN, R. Mythili, questioned Pakistan’s record, saying its claims of defending the rule of law internationally contradicted the military’s influence over governance at home.
