Torrential rainfall triggered flash flooding in Madrigueras in Spain’s Albacete province on Friday, inundating streets, homes, garages and businesses and leaving vehicles stranded. Police blocked access to a flooded bridge as emergency crews responded to more than 100 calls reporting flooding and helped people trapped by rapidly rising water. Authorities closed several roads around the town, while Civil Protection issued an emergency alert urging residents in the La Manchuela area to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from flooded roads and waterways. No fatalities had been reported.
