It’s emerged that the Chairman of Manchester City Football Club, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, was granted diplomatic immunity six years ago – meaning he is protected from any potential criminal proceedings or civil actions in UK courts.

An independent commission found the club was guilty of breaching Premier League financial regulations between 2009 and 2018 – including inflating revenue and concealing costs by over £900m.
City has strongly rejected the findings, and Mr Mubarak has not been directly accused of any wrongdoing.
