An Indian pilot at the centre of a mid-air crisis, and nearly 180 lives brought to safety.
Flydubai captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian-origin pilot, reportedly fought off his co-pilot during the cockpit altercation aboard the Dubai-Tel Aviv flight. The aircraft was later secured and diverted safely to Saudi Arabia. With around 180 passengers on board, Machchhar’s role in the dramatic episode is now drawing praise. Flydubai says the circumstances and motive remain under formal investigation.
