Thousands have protested across Spain after 87-year-old Maria del Carmen Abascal was evicted from the apartment she had called home for decades. As demonstrators camped in Madrid’s Puerta del Sol demanding stronger tenant protections, the government unveiled a package of housing measures, including a proposed ban on evictions until 2030.
