Pope Leo has ended his four-day trip to France with a speech in Metz. He focused on Europe and migration, saying that the continent is “entering a new stage in its long history… with so many men and women fleeing war and persecution” – and that “human dignity demands legal and safe pathways, rescue, and assistance.”

He ended it by pleading to younger Europeans not to give into to the mentality of violence and oppression, and that “Europe, firmly rooted in its heritage, will continue to flourish and to inspire the whole world.”
