Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon attempted to hand an Iranian diplomat a Starlink terminal on the floor of the UN General Assembly on Thursday, hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu displayed the device during his address.
Footage shows Danon approaching the seated Iranian representative and holding out the white terminal. The diplomat remained silent and turned away as Danon urged him to take it back to Tehran, saying the device could help Iranians access information beyond government controls.
The exchange followed Netanyahu’s UN speech, in which he criticised Iran’s leadership and said Starlink could provide Iranians with uncensored internet access. Netanyahu said he would leave the terminal with UN officials for the Iranian delegation.
Starlink, operated by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, provides internet connectivity through a network of satellites rather than conventional ground-based infrastructure.
