Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in the New York area on Thursday for a brief visit to address the United Nations General Assembly, amid a renewed public dispute with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Netanyahu and his wife Sara landed at Stewart International Airport north of the city before the Israeli leader was due to deliver his UN speech later in the day. Mamdani had previously pledged to pursue Netanyahu’s arrest over an International Criminal Court warrant but later acknowledged that New York City did not have the legal authority to enforce it. Netanyahu has said he would use his UN appearance to respond to Mamdani and defend Israel’s actions, while the mayor has continued to criticise the Israeli prime minister. Netanyahu is not scheduled to meet U.S. President Donald Trump during the visit.
