A coal-carrying vessel, MV Cape Dao, was reportedly struck by missiles off the coast of Oman in the Strait of Hormuz, killing one crew member. The remaining 27 crew members were rescued by the Royal Oman Navy, according to the family of the vessel’s chief engineer. The ship was carrying around 170,000 tonnes of coal to Khor Fakkan port when it was attacked.
The chief engineer’s son said his father reported that two missiles hit the vessel, damaging the engine room and crew quarters. The Indian embassy in Oman said one Indian national was killed and that it was coordinating with Omani authorities over the safety of the crew.
