King said a successful result would provide the “new political impetus” that Berlin urgently needs, citing challenges in infrastructure, education and affordable housing. He also said the party was prepared to speak with all political parties, including the AfD, depending on the issue at hand. More than 2.48 million people are eligible to vote in the Berlin state election, with 16- and 17-year-olds participating for the first time.
