A massive landslide has struck Nepal’s Darchula district, sending huge amounts of rock, soil and vegetation cascading down the mountainside and into the Chaulani River.
The dramatic landslide occurred near Bhattar in Api Himal Rural Municipality, creating a huge cloud of dust and debris as the mountainside collapsed. The falling material temporarily blocked the river’s flow, raising fresh concerns in the disaster-hit Himalayan region.
