London Chaos! ‘Just Stop Oil’ Activists Block Parliament Square During PMQs | Times Now World

Listen to this article

Just Stop Oil protesters disrupted traffic around London’s Parliament Square on Wednesday, with police removing and arresting activists during Prime Minister’s Questions. Around 30 to 50 demonstrators were reported sitting or lying in the carriageway, while the climate campaign group said about 60 people were blocking the road and more than 40 others were supporting the action from the pavement. The protesters were demonstrating against possible further oil and gas development in the North Sea, carrying placards opposing new fossil fuel projects. The action came as Prime Minister Andy Burnham faced his first PMQs and signalled he could approve new North Sea oil and gas licences, following earlier comments that he would take a pragmatic approach to the region’s energy resources. The protest marked a return to disruptive street action by Just Stop Oil after the group said in 2025 that it was ending its street campaign.
