Chinese President Xi Jinping received a formal welcome from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi at the Ittihadiya Presidential Palace in Cairo on September 2.
Xi Jinping and Sisi stood for the national anthems and reviewed an honour guard ceremony during the official welcome.
Xi arrived in Egypt on September 1 for his first visit to the Arab world’s most populous country in a decade. The visit comes as Middle Eastern nations reassess their economic and security partnerships following the Iran war and its impact on regional stability and global energy markets.
Egypt and China have also been highlighting their growing economic and military cooperation, as well as their long-standing diplomatic relationship.
