India and Uzbekistan have elevated their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcing a long-term arrangement for uranium supplies. The two countries also agreed to deepen cooperation in defence, including co-development and co-production, as well as critical minerals, clean energy, space and artificial intelligence. Modi was also conferred Uzbekistan’s ‘Oliy Darajali Do’stlik’ (Order of the Highest Friendship) by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in recognition of the enduring India-Uzbekistan friendship.
