India has successfully tested its indigenous Military Combat Parachute System (MCPS), developed by ADRDE under the DRDO, at one of the world’s highest-altitude drop zones in Ladakh. DRDO test jumpers carried out the jump from 22,000 feet above mean sea level in temperatures of around −15°C. The MCPS was deployed at 20,000 feet, with the jumpers landing safely at 13,700 feet. The trial also tested indigenous supporting systems, including a para computer, oxygen system and specialised jumpsuits, demonstrating the system’s reliability and tactical potential in extreme high-altitude conditions.
