Jharkhand student leader Devendra Nath Mahto called off his hunger strike after the Hemant Soren government cancelled exams and government recruitments amid weeks of student protests over alleged examination irregularities.
Mahto, who is admitted to Ranchi’s Sadar Hospital, ended his fast after meeting ministers and MLAs who visited him. Thanking the government, he said the ongoing probe was targeting those involved in examination irregularities and assured that students would support efforts to clean up the recruitment system.
“They are making a concerted effort to reach the true kingpins behind these gangs,” Mahto said
