A tall column of ash rose over Indonesia’s Mount Anak Krakatau after the volcano erupted on Sunday, August 16, with eyewitness footage capturing the dramatic activity.
Indonesia’s Geological Agency, under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, recorded eight eruptions at the volcano in South Lampung. The agency said the eruptions were accompanied by ejections of incandescent lava.
The latest volcanic activity has renewed attention on one of Indonesia’s most active volcanic regions.
