‘Strong Numbers’: PM Modi Hails India’s 7.8% GDP Growth | N18G

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed India’s 7.8% GDP growth in the April-June quarter of FY2026-27, calling it “strong numbers” and “even stronger confidence.” India’s economy expanded 7.8% year-on-year, beating economists’ expectations of 7.1%, with strong domestic activity supporting growth despite geopolitical and external pressures. Real GDP stood at Rs 81.36 lakh crore, up from Rs 75.46 lakh crore a year earlier, while nominal GDP rose 10.3% to Rs 88.27 lakh crore. The stronger-than-expected growth came despite elevated crude oil prices, trade uncertainty, financial-market volatility and the ongoing US-Iran conflict.
